To prolong the life of your premium cutting boards and wooden utensils, some regular maintenance is key. Maintenance is dead simple and shouldn't take you more than a few minutes. Board care consists of properly cleaning and regularly conditioning of your wooden board.
The first step in caring for your cutting board is washing your board. You should never place cutting board in the dishwasher. Wash your cutting board regularly with warm water and a mild dish detergent. Dry your board using a lint free dish towel, removing as much excess moisture as possible. Store your board vertically, allowing both sides dry completely, this prevents warping and permanent damage.
You should condition your board on a regular basis, how often ultimately depends on usage. The more your use your board and wash it, the quicker the wax and oils will be stripped from wood of your board. We suggest establishing a regular routine and performing extra conditioning if you notice the wood appears dry.
Conditioning your board using our Board Butter kit is very simple.
- Get a liberal amount of Board Butter on the white applicator pad.
- Using the applicator rub Board Butter into the top, bottom and all sides of your board.
- Allow Board Butter to sit on the board for at least 15-20 minutes; longer will allow the oil to penetrate more.
- Wipe off excess Board Butter and buff to a shine with a clean, lint free cloth.
